About ConLife

When used as a preventative during initial construction, with CONLIFE concrete admixtures and migratory corrosion inhibitors Resists the onset of corrosion. When corrosion develops in existing structure, CONLIFE inhibitors can be applied to reduse further deterioration and fortify the concrete against additional damage. CONLiFE protects your investment at one time and costs of rehabilitation projects.

How ConLife Product Works

ConLife product will formulate with a unique combination of corrosion-inhibiting chemicals to protect the steel in concrete while preparing the cement concrete mix. The crack formation in concrete structure occurs due to the corrosion of rebar inside the concrete. This occurs because of the surface oxidation of iron rod into iron oxide due to diffused oxygen and moisture in the concrete. The places where the chloride content in the ground water is more, carbonation reaction occurs which leads to the decrease in alkalinity. Because of this, the rate of corrosion of steel rebar increases and eventually the cracks are formed. By adding the ConLife admixture to the concrete mix, the corrosion of steel rebar can be prevented.

Function of ConLife

When ConLife approaches the steel rebar surface, it forms a protective layer which prevents the corrosion of iron rebar in the concrete by moisture and other ions such as chloride. ConLife product is an effective alternative and economically cheaper to eproxy coated rebar, modified concretes, and concrete surface coatings.

Product Acceptability

The ConLife is tested by APERL (Andhra Pradesh Engineering Research Laboratory) which is working under Irrigation Department Govt of A.P. The test report citified that ConLife is having higher corrosion resistant properties and increases bonding between the concrete and steel rebars.

The product utilized by Panchayath Raj Department of its R.W.S works and send a copy of remarks that ConLife is working well for corrosion resistance to the steel in reinforcement.

AP State housing corporation Ltd, utilized the product for Nirmithikendra Products and certified that ConLife is a good corrosion resistant admixture without side effects to the concrete.

Corrosion Effected Concrete Pictures

Corrosion with rusting of reinforcement in concrete comprises two stages. In a first stage (or step), the aggressive elements, such as chloride or carbon dioxide (CO2) (Cl-), present in the surrounding medium, penetrate in concrete. This is the initiation stage. The second stage is propagation which starts, when these aggressive bodies are in rather high concentrations at the reinforcement level. This corresponds to the rust growth, which can break concrete cover.

These stages are described as follows.

– a first stage involves the transfers of aggressive agents (mainly carbon dioxide and chloride) of water and of oxygen, inducing the Corrosion initiation (depassivation of reinforcement),

– a stage of Corrosion growth, leading to concrete damage, to spalling, cracks, etc. This stage starts when the contents of aggressive agents are high enough closed to reinforcing steel.

So, to describe steel Corrosion in concrete, it is advisable to define, on the one hand, the penetration of the aggressive agents through concrete and, on the other hand, the conditions of depassivation of reinforcement, then the dissolution rate of metal and the rust growth.
